tool kit
At the Council of Ontario Directors of Education (CODE) it is our goal to offer resources that will help families as they guide their children in learning skills that are essential for success at school and throughout life.
CODE has produced a series of resources with input from parents across Ontario. We invite you to scroll down the page and read a short description of these resources then follow a link to learn more and access the resources for any or all of the topics that have been covered to date.

Parent Engagement: Math

When you support and encourage your child to learn,
your positive approach helps influence your child's success.

Relationships

When students understand mathematics, they are equipped with knowledge they can bring to every aspect of their lives. Inspiring Your Child to Learn and Love Math is a tool kit for parents. It provides modules with simple, but effective methods and materials for parents.

This Parent Tool Kit was created specifically for parents of children in the elementary grades in Ontario (Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8). The goal of this resource is to provide parents with the most significant research-based information to help them be the best, most knowledgeable and most confident supporters for their child's mathematics education.

This Parent Tool Kit consists of five modules, each with its own set of resources, support materials and videos: Module One: Overview, Module Two: Kindergarten, Module Three: Primary (Grades 1, 2 and 3), Module Four: Junior (Grades 4, 5 and 6), Module Five: Intermediate (Grades 7 and 8)

Parent Engagement: Relationships

What parents can do to help their children develop healthy relationships

Relationships

Copies of our Parent Engagement: Relationships Tool Kit and Guidebook were delivered to all publicly funded school boards during the fall of 2014. Extra copies may be downloaded and printed without infringement on copyright.

We hope that you, the parent, will find this useful in conversations with your child. There are six sections in the Tool Kit, which can be explored in any order. They are: Be a Mentor, Be Involved, Be a Role Model, Be a Learner, Be a Coach, Be a Guide.

The accompanying Guidebook is intended to help in developing parent workshops on important topics as outlined in the Tool Kit. We hope that Parent Involvement Committees (PICs), School Councils and other parent groups will find this helpful when working with school leaders in encouraging their students to succeed, and in building positive school climates.
