Explanatory Notes

Professional development opportunities require that partners at all levels of the education system create conditions that provide students with maximum opportunities to learn and reach their potential.  When educators work collaboratively to implement an integrating process of assessment and instruction, student achievement can improve.  School and system instructional leaders play a critical role in supporting staff when applying an integrated approach that personalizes student assessment and instruction.

Below are sample PA day sessions available to support your school board’s professional development.  Building on the principles found in Education for All: The Report of the Expert Panel on Literacy and Numeracy Instruction for Students With Special Education Needs, Kindergarten to Grade 6, these samples complement the key concepts found in the upcoming  Learning for All (L4A K-12)  including:

  • Assessment and instructional approaches (Universal Design for Learning, differentiated instruction, the tiered approach)
  • Personalization
  • Precision
  • Professional Learning Communities
  • Class/Student Profiles

Please check back to the website as samples will be updated throughout the 2009-10 school year.

We appreciate all feedback and encourage you to respond to assist us in future planning.
